Our Aquifer

Check Now
The primary water supply for North Florida and South Georgia is the Floridan Aquifer which underlies an area of about 100,000 square miles.  It is composed of permeable carbonate rocks which are saturated with water.  Over 4000 million gallons per day are drawn from the aquifer for our water supply.   A plot of data of record for the aquifer level at a Suwannee River Management District monitoring well on the  Pinckney Hill Plantation in Northeastern Jefferson County may be seen by clicking on the following link:  Period of Record    or    Last 13 Months
